In this work, the Boundary Element Method is employed to solve three dimensional wave propagation problems in plates characterized by micro*Structure The microstructural effects are taken into account with the aid of a simple gradient elastic theory, which is the simplest case of the general gradient elastic theory proposed by Mindlin A representative numerical example dealing with the propagation of a transient, narrow band pulse is numerically solved through a boundary element methodology recently proposed by the last two authors for axisymmetric gradient elastic bodies. Comparisons made between the obtained results and the corresponding classical elastic solutions 'demonstrate the microstructural effects on the propagated waves.
