THE FAILURE assessment for a damaged pipe with both a single corroded pit and multiple corroded pits has been considered with the real pipeline size burst tests and the associated finite element method. The corroded gas pipelines made of X65 steel with various types of artificially machined pits have been used for a number of series of burst tests on gas pipeline. The failure pressures for the single corroded defect on gas pipeline have been explored and classified with defect size of length, width and depth. Various type of model has been simulated with the change of that three variable, and limit solution for single defect has been derived from FEM simulation result based on PCORRC criterion.
