Recent interdecadal changes of summer seasonal marches over East Asia are investigated. The end of the Baiu (Mei-yu) season over East Asia has delayed since the 1980s compared with 1960-79, and it may be related to recent stagnant characteristics of the Baiu (Mei-yu) Frontal Zone and a more frequent appearance of the Okhotsk High. In the latter half of August and the beginning of September, on the other hand, sunshine has increased over central and western Japan, and an increase of temperature and a decrease of the number of typhoons approaching the main islands of Japan are also observed. The relationship between the results observed in this study and the known interdecadal climate changes (e.g., Nitta and Yamada 1989) should be clarified in future.
