This work has for objective to conduce a technical and economic analysis of the paraboloid hyperbolic shell (hypar) in reinforced concrete as solution of shallow building foundation placed in soil with low bearing capacity. It will be descript aspects of the structural and geotechnical behaviour of this shell foundation structure through a numerical non-linear analyses conduced by a Finite Element Method code. Procedures of construction and economic aspects will be taking into account. From the results gotten through the numerical analyses and reinforcement concrete design, it will be demonstrate the technical and economic advantages in the adoption of hypar shell techniques front to the usual solutions in shallow plan foundations. Finally, the validation of the work will be effected through a study of real case, a residential building of three floors construct in a argillaceous soil with low ground bearing capacity, were about 50% of reduction in cost was gotten.
