This paper presents an effective method for modification of dynamics characteristics, which is based on the algorithm of sequential linear programming (SLP) and the matrix perturbation techniques in the modal coordinate systems. In this method, adaptive factors for adjusting multiple modal frequencies are constructed and move limits are used to make the sequential algorithm stable and robust. In the modifying procedure, modal frequencies are shifted sequentially from undesired values to desire values unstill desired frequency values are obtained. Meanwhile, design variable are always subject to their restraints. This method has been successfully applied to modification for mounting properties. The numerical results obtained show it is quite effective, practicable and satisfactory even though there are tight restraints for design variables and strict requirements for multiple modal frequencies.
