Evaluation of OMG Quality at the Norske Skog Albury Mill

Since the Recycled Fibre Plant at Norske Skog's Albury Mill began operation in 1993, visual assessments have been the only means available to determine the quality of the old magazine (OMG) recovered paper received from around Australia. This project was designed to determine the actual quality of the recovered paper, focussing solely on OMG. Once an estimate of the actual quality was obtained, the aim was to investigate the impact this has on the pulp quality. To do this, a survey of OMG quality in the Recycled Fibre (RCF) Warehouse was followed by laboratory simulation of the pulping process, based on the survey results.
