Reactions of Ti(III)complexes,(eta~5-C_5R_5)_2Ti(OR')[R=H,R'=Et,~TBu,2,6-dimethyl-phenyl;R=Me,R'=Me,~tBu,Ph],with Co_2(CO)_8 resulted in formation of Ti-Co heterometallic complexes.Steric hindrance around the Ti(III)complex affected the structure of the product;the reactions of(eta~5-C_5H_5)_2Ti(OR')gave Ti-CO_3 complexes,whereas Ti-Co compounds were formed from(eta~5-C_5Me_5)_2Ti(OR').No reaction occurred of(eta~5-C_5H_5)_2Ti(OR')with bulky phenoxy ligand.Ligand effects of(eta~5-C_5R_5)_2Ti(OR')were more obvious in the reaction with(eta~5-C_5H_5)_2Mo_2(CO)_6,in which only the Ti(III)complexes which are monomeric and have appropriate size of R',gave the Ti-Mo heterobimetallic products.In the photo-assisted reaction of(eta~5-C_5R_5)_2Ti(OR')with(eta~5-C_5H_5)_2Ru_2(CO)_4,Ti(III)complexes except(eta~5-C_5H_5)_2Ti(O'Bu)were inactive.
