We report the experimental generation and characterization of a 160-GHz picosecond pulse train using multiple four-wave mixing temporal compression of an initial dual frequency beat signal in the anomalous-dispersion regime of a nonzero dispersion shifted fiber. The propagation of the initial beat signal was first analyzed using several numerical simulations. The fiber parameters were then measured thanks to a technique based on modulation instability (MI) and finally, the generated 160-GHz pulse train was characterized with a frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) setup.
