A synchronising stage is controlled by the pulses of the frequency train and by a timing generator producing a timed pattern. The synchronising stage forms from the pulses signals which simultaneously reach a shift register and a logic circuit. When signals of a particular timed sequence appear at the shift register and logic circuit, they enter the shift register and further signals are produced at the logic circuit output. These signals modulate a forward-reverse counter in the forward direction. The signals sent through the shift register are conveyed to another logic circuit and the signals appearing at the output of this circuit modulate the counter in the reverse direction.
