Finite element modeling and statistical design of experiments are used to characterize thermal responses in a batch-type brazing furnace. The computational approach provides a realistic map of the critical process parameters without extensive experimentation. Modeling inputs include heating and cooling rates, isothermal holds, temperature, loading configuration, and materials thermal properties. Furnace model development and validation are described.
