Efficiency of Work Safety Management in Polish Hard Coal Mines—Technical and Economic Aspects

The paper presents measures aimed at assessment of efficiency of work safety management, implemented in Polish hard coal mines. The main thrust of these concern assessment of indices describing the work safety condition in the context of accidents that occurred in the mines and constitute one of the main parameters by which to assess the risk of hazards existing in mining. Their extension by economic elements enables assessment of profitability of outlays incurred for ensuring employees' safety and health protection and becomes one of essential stimuli to improve both efficiency and conditions of work at a plant. An essential factor intensifying the measures is introduction of differentiated premiums towards accident insurance.
