Biometry errors due to equipment used

Objective: Ultrasound biometry plays an important role in ophthalmic diagnostics and, perhaps even more, in ophthalmic surgery. There is, however, no commonly accepted technical scheme or blueprint underlying commercially available biometry instruments. As a result, the axial length of one and the same patient is likely to be found different in different clinical surroundings. It is therefore of interest to compare different ultrasonic instruments with respect to equipment-related factors influencing biometric results
