The paper presents results of considerations over irreversibility and a non-equilibrium character of phenomena that accompany ozone synthesis in silent discharges performed in real conditions. First of all, an equilibrium model of energy conversions occurring in an ozonizer gap have been analyzed taking into account main phenomena that accompany the process. Thermodynamic and process driving forces of the main phenomena have been analyzed as well as their effect on quantities that are characteristic for the basic process course and also primary and secondary phenomena at the ozone generation process have been indicated. In the second part of the presented research work based on conclusions following from the considerations concerning ozone production in the conditions of non-isothermal plasma a basis for a model of irreversibility and a non-equilibrium character of the process has been formulated with a postulate of a local thermodynamic equilibrium taken into account.
