In summary we have established three methods for the synthesis of glycopeptides: step by step elongation method, one step transglycosylation method using endo M, and one step transglycosylation method using endo α-N-acetylgalactosaminidase. By usingone of these methods, we can synthesize N-linked or O-linked glycopeptides whose sugar chain structure is unique. And thus synthesized glycopeptides may be utilized to clarify the roles and functions of sugar chains in glycopeptides and glycoproteins.
