Recently, scientists have developed new technologies to replicate the olfactory senses. The technology is known as the Electronic Nose, or E-Nose. It has been used to monitor the subjective" scent of products and classify these scents in objective" manners. The technologies have been applied in food, perfume, clothing, and security industries - although the opportunities for integration are truly extensive. Research and development continues to be of major importance as newly developed companies selling new commercialized E-Nose technologies hope to find new marketplace opportunities. Recycling requires the removal of contamination. As the utilization of recycled material has increased in recent years, so too has the importance of implementing appropriate measures to ensure contaminant-free product. As more consumers utilize products that are made from recycled material, new testing and analytical methods must continue to be developed to ensure all forms of contamination in recycled materials is recognized and removed from finished products.
