The accidental crash of a Rockwell Commander against the Pirelli skyscraper in Milano, happened on April 18th, 2002, even if not comparable in term of causes and consequences to the World Trade Center Towers disaster, once more time has highlighted the importance of considering the aircraft impact as one of the design load conditions for high buildings. The present paper describes a preliminary investigation of the aircraft impact damage of the skyscraper in Milano, using a simplified energy based approach. Three different cases have been investigated depending on the impact point and consequently on the different resistance of the building that presents the main structure made of reinforced concrete.
