Odorous Waste Gases: A Comparison Between Treatment Technologies

Activities like food industries, fish markets, animal production facilities, shambles and meat treatment industries, plants for the treatment of municipal solid wastes or sludges, composting plants or restaurants ovens can emit various odorous compounds like ammonia and amines, inorganic and organic sulphur compounds, carboxylic acids, aldehydes or aromatic hydrocarbons, some of which can also be characterized by pronounced toxicity. Treatment technologies are thus needed to limit odour and toxicity of the emission. In this communication the applicability of different technologies for the deodorization of gaseous wasted is discussed and compared.
