摘要

Background-^sIn patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), endothelial dysfunction is expected, however there are no data for assessment of endolhelial function by pulse wave analysis (PWA) in these patients. Methods and results: Assessment of endothelial function by PWA was performed in 14 PAD patients and in 14 age-matched controls. Endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) in PAD patients was significantly smaller compared with the control subjects (-5.4 +- 4 % vs. -9.9 +- 3.5 %, p = 0.004), while endothelium-independent vasodilation (E1DV) was practically similar (-20.4 +-8.1 % vs. -19.3 +- 5.3 %, p = 0.7).Conclusions: Patients with PAD have impaired EDV as revealed by PWA. PWA allows to identify patients with preclinical atherosclerosis, thereby making it possible to implement early therapeutic strategies.
