Introduction: Instrumented spinal fusion is considered the most accepted methods of lumbar spinal fusion for different lumbar pathologies. Newer instrumentation techniques and instruments have allowed for better outcome. Pedicle screw instrumentation for spinal fusion is gaining popularity and becoming the standard of care for lumbar spinal fusion procedures. One of the major concerns with pedicle screw instrumentation is misplacement of the screws with subsequent injury to neural structures or failure of the instrumentation. The use of computer assisted navigation for pedicle screw instrumentation was implemented recently by some centers to achieve more precise and anatomical pedicle screw instrumentation.
