In conclusion, we propose a QIP device based on Josephson charge qubits. We employ a common inductance to couple all charge qubits and design switchable interbit couplings by using two dc SQUID's to connect the island in each Cooper-pair box. The proposed QC architectures are scalable since any two charge qubits can be effectively coupled by an experimentally accessible inductance. Using appropriate Hamiltonians of the QC architectures, we ormulate an efficient QC scheme in which only one two-bit operation is used in the controlled-phase-shift and controlled-NOT gates.
