FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUIDS: SHIFTING DEFINITIONS AND STANDARDS

For many years Factory Mutual (FM Global) has provided an approval standard for fire resistant fluids. This standard has now changed. Other definitions and standards are in use or development from organizations such as ASTM, ISO and the 7th Luxembourg Committee. This paper will review the most current information on these various standards focusing on how they differ and how industrial companies can use them to insure the safety of their operations.
