The evaluation of the effect of a single dose of Excenel RTU~(R) (ceftiofur hydrochloride) on mortality caused by Haemophilus parasuis and Streptococcus suis in nursery pigs

Both Haemophilus parasuis and Streptococcus suis are considered sporadic diseases of nursery age pigs often manifested in the form of acute mortality. The objective of this study was to determine if a single injection of Excenel RTU~(R) (ceftiofur hydrochloride) given at the time of increased mortality associated with Haemophilus parasuis and Streptococcus suis would have an impact on the mortality and the number of subsequent individual pig treatments required.
