摘要

Rotavirus is a prevalent pathogen in United States swine populations, and occurrence of rotavirus A (RVA), rotaviius B (RVB), and rotavirus C (RVC) has been reported as 70.1, 34.2, and 62.2%, respectively.' Herds may experience a pre-weaning mortalityincrease of 3-20% and a decreased weaning weight of 0.5-1.0 pounds.2 The fastidious nature of RVB and RVC and the lack of cross ptotection between and within RVA, RVB, and RVC makes it difficult to prevent clinical disease. Natural planned exposure is used to protect pigs against rotavirus infections, yet literature is lacking to support its efficacy and safety. The objective of this study was to determine the pattern of rotavirus shedding in gilts after natural planned exposure and to assess the impact on shedding of rotavirus and weaning weight of their piglets.
