A pilot study to reassess aerosol transmission of PRRSV using a tube model

Attempts to transport PRRSV-contaminated aerosols from experimentally infected pigs to sentinels across distances using tube models have been inconsistent. Variables hypothesized to influence these results include population size of experimentally infected pigs, PRRSV isolate selected, ventilation system and study duration. The purpose of this pilot study was to re-evaluate the potential to transport aerosolized PRRSV over a designated distance using a tube model after controlling said variables.
