摘要

It is reported that clinical and sub-clinical iron deficiency anemia results in slower weight gain and increased risk of morbidity associated with diarrhea. There are many iron supplementation products on the market that claim to aid in the preventionof this. These products are available in two different recommended doses of 100 mg and 200 mg per piglet. In this study, several different formulations and routes of administration were tested to determine the difference in performance benefits betweenthe products and their recommendations. It is imperative to the health and productivity of the piglets that veterinarians and producers select a superior iron treatment protocol.
