Cross media publishing is one of the most misused terms in the modern media industry. All kind of standards are used to publish content in different forms in the same quality usable for different customer groups. The goal of a well-defined standard is to specify rules, to unify structures and reach therefore quality criteria with well-defined procedures and specifications. Standardized data files should enable an easy exchange of multimedia product data for magazines books and documents between customer and media producers.
