New endomorphin analogues using beta-amino acids as proline mimeics in position 2

Recently,two new peptides,emdomorphin 1 (Tyr-Pro-Trp-Phe-NH_2) and endomorphin 2 (Tyr-Pro-Phe-Phe-NH_2) have been isolated from mammalian brain.These peptides activate mu-opioid receptors with high affinity and selectivity [1].Endomorphins exist in cis and trans form with respect to the Pro omega bond.
