Alimentary disease in pigs is arguably the most important health concern for swine producers today. Diarrhea in swine is often multifactorial, caused by infection with multiple pathogens as well as environmental and management factors. Singly, or in combination, porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), porcine rotavirus (PRV) group A, B, C and E and porcine enteric calicivirus (PECV) are the major viral pathogens identified in swine alimentary disease. DNA chip technology is a very powerful technique used to detect a DNA sequence or gene expression levels of thousands of genes by hybridization to thousands of DNA probes on a small material surface called a chip. The applications can be used for the identification of genetic variations, genetic diseases, cancer diagnosis and more. The objective of this study is to develop a DNA chip system for four major groups of pig enteric viruses detection.
