EFFICACY OF A COMBINATION H1N1/H3N2 SIV-M. HYOPNEUMONIAE VACCINE IN SWINE

Typing of swine influenza viruses (SIV) at the National Veterinary Services Laboratory during the past fiscal year indicted that 31% were H3N2 and 64% were H1N1. Both viruses are endemic in the US swine population and, along with M. hyopneumoniae andporcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus, are the primary pathogens involved in the porcine respiratory disease complex. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of a combination vaccine to protect swine from experimental challenge with H1N1 and H3N2 SIV and M. hyopemumoniae.
