The recent introduction of the FLUXSET sensor as magnetic field detector can lead to an improvement of the sensitivity of the measurement systems for non destructive testing now available. Indeed their high, magnetic field frequency independent sensitivity and their reduced spatial dimensions can increase the possibility of detection of deep and small defects in the materials of interest. Furthermore, the possibility to operate in a wide temperature range (up to 150°C) and the relative simple electronic signal processing are other advantages of the probes based on the FLUXSET sensor. Here we report the experimental work on the set up of a NDT system based on this new kind of sensor carried out in the NDT laboratory of the University of Reggio Calabria.
