摘要

The possibility of employing a planar mesh type probe for the evaluation of near-surface material properties as well as to inspect the presence of defects has been investigated in this paper. The impedance of a planar type coil in proximity of any metal surface is a complex function of many parameters includin8 near-surface material properties. A two-dimensional model of a planar mesh type probe has been developed for the analytical calculation of magnetic vector potential., flux-linkage and impedance. The impedance of the probe is used for the evaluation of the near-surface material properties. A simple neural network model has been developed for the post-processing of output parameters from the measured impedance data.
