Flame spreading over liquid fuels has been experimentally characterized for four different alcohols in a complete range of temperatures. Five different spreading regimes (and four critical temperatures T{sub}1, T{sub}2, T{sub}3, T{sub}4 have been observed. The critical temperature T{sub}1 has been described as steady state bifurcation, T{sub}2 resembles a transcritical bifurcation, while T{sub}3 corresponds to a Hopf bifurcation, and T{sub}4 is a homoclinic connection.
