Preliminary results from the STAR experiment are presented here and complement the studies related to the hyperon production at mid-rapidity in central Au+Au collisions fro the RHIC energy of sNN~(1/2) = 130 GeV. The identification of the triply strange Ω~- via the invariant mass reconstruction of the decay products in the (Λ, K~-) channel allows us to calculate transverse mass spectra for this particle and its anti-particle (Ω-bar)~+. We thus report an inverse slope of ~410 MeV and mid-rapidity yields of 0.32 ± 0.09 (stat.) and 0.34 ± 0.09 (stat.) for the Ω and (Ω-bar)~+ respectively. Furthermore, a study of the (Λ, p, π) and (Λ, Λ) decay channels has been performed in order to search for the predicted H-dibaryon in STAR. Due to the statistics reached during the first year of data taking, it is difficult to draw any conclusion. However we expect it to be possible to measure some limits on its production in the near future.
