This study was devised to estimate rutting more realistically based on fundamental properties of asphalt mixture, not based on binder. The study objective is to evaluate possibility of rut estimation based on volumetric properties and tensile properties of the asphalt mixtures with various asphalt binders, aggregates and gradation. The properties include air void, void in mineral aggregate (VMA), void filled with asphalt (VFA), indirect tensile strength (ITS) and stiffness index (SI). These properties were used as independent variables for predicting rut depth under wheel tracking test for various asphalt mixtures, and it was found that estimation of rutting for various asphalt mixtures was possible based on these properties with high coefficients of determination.
