摘要

Stokes 5th-order wave theory is used to modify the Rayleigh probability law for random deep-water waves. Results show that predictions differ sensibly from those based on 2nd-order theory for high waves in heavy seas where crest amplitudes equal or exceed the significant wave height and where wave heights equal or exceed twice the significant wave height. Predictions are shown to be in good agreement with published field measurements.
