Enhancement of gas absorption into water-particle slurry film flowing along a vertical glass plate was studied experimentally. It was experimentally found that mass transfer coefficient for gas absorption was maximized at low nominal particle concentration (about 0.5 vol%) at a certain film Reynolds number. To interpret contribution of particle motion toward the enhancement of gas absorption, behavior of particles in the slurry film flow was observed by a high-speed video camera. It was observed that most particles were maldistributed in solitary waves, i.e. mean distance between particles in a solitary wave was smaller than that in wave's substrate. This short particle distance in a solitary wave may reduce stirring effect by particles in the slurry flow.
