A large number of experiments and numerical simulations have been conducted on the Marangoni convection with a half-zone (HZ) model. Some experimental results indicated that the free surface vibration is observed in the oscillatory flow. In the present study, dynamic free surface deformation (DSD) is considered. Then the critical Re in the numerical simulation differs from the one in the experiments. One of the causes of the difference is the heat loss over the free surface. Therefore the heat loss is included in the present study. As the results, the critical Re obtained from the simulation agrees better with the experiment with consideration of the heat loss.
