Experimental study has been performed on transient boiling heat transfer using TiO{sub}2-coated copper specimen. By exposing the surface to ultraviolet ray, surface wettability changes dramatically and the surface exhibits super-hydrophilic nature. The copper specimen initially heated up to 400-500°C were dipped into water and its cooling curves were obtained. The result shows that the specimen coated with TiO{sub}2 is cooled down much faster than non-coated one. The temperature at the minimum heat flux of TiO{sub}2-coated specimen is much higher than that of non-coated one.
