A computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model for industrial vapor cloud explosions (VCEs) is presented. The utility of the model in determining explosion consequences and performing accident investigations is discussed. The computational model is described with attention on a reduced combustion model used for efficient solutions. Example simulation results for realistic petrochemical facilities are presented. A methodology for using the model to determine the cause of accident explosions is also presented.
