VRGIS: campos basin virtual reality geographic information system

摘要

The work will be show the second generation of the integrated use of a large scale Geographic Information System (GIS) with real-time three dimensional simulation resources using Virtual Reality techniques applied to Campos Basin region and focusing petroleum exploration and production. It will be presented the project considerations, the implementation process, and the characteristics and peculiarities of an interactive and immersive system for visualization of physical and spatial data in a realistic way for a practical case. Two new modules will be presented: Real Time Monitoring (RTM) and Distributed and Collaborative Virtual Environment (DiVE). With RTM users can track ship operations or platforms movements under sea condition in real time or record for later review. With the DiVE module several users can collaborate and participate in the same simulation from different computers and distance places.
