摘要

This paper describes objectives, targets, work packages and the anticipated realization of a project aiming for development of future drive trains based on the switched reluctance- and transversal flux motor technology. Within this project, it is intended to assess the future potential of these new motor technologies for the application as traction drives in electric-, hybrid- and fuel cell vehicles. This will be done by designing, constructing and building up prototypes of both a switched reluctance drive system and a transversal flux drive system. After thorough testing of the machines on a test stand, both drives shall be installed in Volkswagen passenger cars. Their performance and driving behavior will be examined, tested, and compared with state of the art synchronous and asynchronous drive systems available today.
