This paper presents a fabrication method of the unidirectional composite material, in which shape memory alloy (Ti-Ni alloy) fibers are used as reinforced material and epoxy resin as matrix, respectively. This composite material is called to the SMAFRP hereafter and the hybrid composite (CFRP/SMA Fiber/CFRP) is also fabricated. In order to increase the tensile modulus of SMA fibers, their temperature are required to be elevated. The SMAFRP is heated by a electric current and the relation of responsive temperature of the SMAFRP to the value of an ammeter is made clear. Then, the modulus and strength of SMAFRP under the various temperatures are examined and they are compared with the results of a rule of mixture. Furthermore, an effectiveness of the vibration suppression in the SMAFRP and in the hybrid composite specimen is demonstrated.
