Aqueous priming as a surface pretreatment for adhesion

Converters of flexible webstock have reported adhesion problems when applying coatings to film substrates. Application of a chemical primer prepares the film surface for subsequent adhesion of ink, adhesives and most polymeric coatings. This paper will cover the techniques used to apply very low coat weights of water-based primers and the anticipated performance in some applications.
