The paper discusses problems of forecasting the structure of acoustic signal in the environment of machine (a machine itself being source of sound, and the small flat barriers have been used as elements of its construction). Beginning from an idea based on the general model of propagation of the vibroacoustic energy, we presented the relationship that can be used for forecasting of the level of acoustic pressure in different points, including effects provoked by modification of characteristics of the free field. The proposition requires identification of parameters of model description by comparing them to the experiment results. Both purposes and assumptions of the experiment were presented. The laboratory test was carried out in the anechoic chamber with a source producing sounds of given amplitude-frequency structure and with some small barriers made of various materials of different density and granularity. Using the example we demonstrated the procedure leading to identification of parameters. We also suggested direction of future studies that could help introducing their results in designing of the sound-isolating systems in working machines.
