摘要

This paper aims to investigate the present situation of fine art education at Honghian Sangkhu Silpa (HSS), namely the School of Fine Art Pedagogy in Vientiane, Lao P. D. R., with examining the fine art program of the HSS. This study reveals that, first, the curriculum of the HSS is professional oriented program, comparing to the one of the Japanese professional high school, which provides graduates with foundation of general studies for academic opportunities in future. Second, it has been shown that, with the curriculum of the HSS, the graduates from the school have been grounded in skill of fine art practices and knowledge of national identity. Although the modern discipline is taught in parallel with traditional discipline, they do not disturb each other. Both of them are adopted and mixed together to form the fundamental knowledge and experiences for fine art teachers. Third, this study suggests that, there is possibility for the HSS to improve its curriculum for providing more general studies in order to give students academic opportunities in higher institutions.
