A Robust Model for Wastewater Treatment in Sequencing Batch Reactors

A previously developed model for sequencing batch reactors was retuned and used in this study to provide a robust model. The robustness of the model was tested by investigating the effect of some of the model stoichiometric and operating parameters on the performance of the system. The parameters tested are those found to have very significant effects on the system performance in the original model. Retuning of the parameters (within the literature range of parameter values) resulted in providing a model capable of predicting the experimental data very accurately as well as being robust against parameter variations. Such robust models provide handy design and control tools for sequencing batch reactors used in wastewater treatment.
