Jerry Fiala completed a Diploma in Geology at mining University, Ostrava, Czech Republic in 1968 and joined former Czechoslovakian Uranium Industry, where he worked in various positions as geologist and geophysicist in uranium exploration and mining, in 1968 reached position of chief geologist on underground uranium operation, eventually in 1973 became chief geophysicist of a large uranium production enterprise responsible for production reconciliation & measurement, recovery and dilution on in situ leaching and underground mines and reserves reporting. As a part of duty he set up geological - geophysical services for mining operations, the well logging group and geophysical group (electrical, magnetic, hammer seismic surveys).
