Technology transfer to developing countries via education: a course on Air traffic control

摘要

This paper presents a novel development of a syllabus on Air Traffic Control tailored especially to meet the needs of a small developing country like Republic of Macedonia. It has been designed in two versions, one for the undergraduate studies in Traffic Engineering at Technical Faculty in Bitola and another for graduate studies in Automation & Systems Engineering at Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje. The main feature of the undergraduate course is that it has been adjusted to students who have only two one-semester courses in basic and advanced control, and in basic and advanced computing. The main feature of the of the graduate course is that it is designed to students who have had extensive education and training in both control and computing, and also three one-semester courses in electronics, one in Signal processing and two in basic telecommunications during their undergraduate education an training.
