Canine orthopedics has a long and well-published history with the stifle joint. The incidence of stifle instability due to cranial cruciate ligament deficiency with associated meniscal pathology and the presence of patellar instability and luxation represents a very significant proportion of a veterinary surgeon's caseload. It is established that rapture of the cranial craciate ligament (RCCL) is the most common cause of lameness in dogs.
