Metal bake restart

The Reynolds Metals Reduction plant at Baie-Comeau has developed an effective technique for restarting an aluminum reduction cell using a metal bake process. This technique has successfully been used to restart both prebake and Soderberg cells. This paper highlights benefits and provides a step-by-step method for the technique, as well as conditions under which it must be applied.
